3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 11/7/17

Darren Collison is primed to struggle in a tough test against the New Orleans Pelicans tonight. Who else is worth avoiding in NBA DFS on Tuesday?

In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.

You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to -- or even fade altogether?

Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it only takes one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference from winning or losing your contests.

Darren Collison, PG, Indiana Pacers

FanDuel Price: $6,000

Darren Collison has been a nice fantasy sleeper to start the season, but he and the Indiana Pacers welcome in a tough defensive test tonight in the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Pelicans are currently holding opponents to just 103.7 points per 100 possessions, which ranks ninth-best in the NBA. They have also been tough on opposing point guards, limiting them to 0.83 FanDuel points per minute.

Jrue Holiday is also holding players he defends to just 43.9% shooting from the floor. In 17 career head-to-head matchups, Collison is shooting just 40.1% from the floor against Holiday.

Buddy Hield, SG, Sacramento Kings

FanDuel Price: $4,100

Buddy Hield has been excellent over the Sacramento Kings' last two games, averaging 15.0 points and 28.5 FanDuel points per contest. He put up both totals in under 27 minutes, which could lead to players looking to him for value tonight. That might be a mistake.

Hield did most of his damage against the Boston Celtics in fourth-quarter garbage time, where he was 5-for-5 from the field. His minutes went down to 21 after that game, but he did grab eight rebounds -- which is a season high -- on Saturday to salvage his day.

He and the Kings are now up against the Oklahoma City Thunder, who have been very stingy against shooting guards, allowing just 0.74 FanDuel points per minute to the position. Combine this with an expected increase in ownership, and Hield is a player to avoid against a stingy Thunder defense.

Marvin Williams, PF, Charlotte Hornets

FanDuel Price: $4,000

Marvin Williams has been solid for the Charlotte Hornets, but his lack of defensive stats and assists really hurts his fantasy upside, and at times, it can also hurt his floor. Even with an intriguing price and matchup against the New York Knicks, Williams has the monumental challenge of going against Kristaps Porzingis on both ends of the floor tonight.

So far this season, the Knicks are holding power forwards to just 0.83 FanDuel points per minute, and Porzingis has been a big reason why -- he's limiting players he defends to an impressive 40.6% shooting percentage. In their five career meetings, Williams is shooting just 37.8% from the floor against the Knicks' star forward.
