3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 11/6/17

Dennis Schroder has a tough matchup against a feisty Celtics defense tonight. Who else should you look to fade on Monday's short slate?

In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.

You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to -- or even fade altogether?

Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it only takes one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference from winning or losing your contests.

Dennis Schroder, PG, Atlanta Hawks

FanDuel Price: $7,800

The Atlanta Hawks are coming off their best win of the season on Sunday, beating the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road as double-digit underdogs. Dennis Schroder was a huge part of that victory, racking up 28 points and 9 assists, good for a total of 39.1 FanDuel points.

After a game like that, the Hawks' point guard might see an uptick in ownership on the smaller Monday slate, but that might make him a landmine against one of the league's toughest defenses.

So far this season, the Boston Celtics are keeping opposing teams to just 96.9 points per 100 possessions, and floor generals have suffered the most. Boston is holding point guards to 0.75 FanDuel points per minute, and Schroder is averaging just 31.1 FanDuel points in his last three meetings against Kyrie Irving, even when accounting for the updated FanDuel scoring.

Goran Dragic, PG, Miami Heat

FanDuel Price: $7,000

There aren't many matchups worse than trying to defend Stephen Curry, and Goran Dragic will have the honor of doing so on Monday coming off a Sunday afternoon game in Los Angeles.

This matchup has not been kind to his offense in the recent past. Over Dragic's last five games against Curry and the Warriors, he is averaging just under 24 FanDuel points per game.

So far this year, the Warriors have been tough defensively against opposing point guards. The Dubs are allowing point guards just 0.84 FanDuel points per minute. That, combined with Dragic's history against Golden State, makes him an avoidable player Monday.

Luke Babbitt, PF, Atlanta Hawks

FanDuel Points: $3,800

Luke Babbitt filled in as the starting power forward for the Hawks on Sunday and put it to the Cavaliers with 17 points and 29.6 FanDuel points in 41 minutes. At a price tag of $3,800, he is bound to see an uptick in ownership on Monday's short slate, but that puts him in danger of being an even bigger landmine.

John Collins is still going to get plenty of run Monday after playing 24 minutes and outscoring Babbitt with 32.1 FanDuel points against Cleveland. Plus, while Cleveland's defense has struggled to start the year, the Celtics' has not this season.

Power forwards are only averaging 0.91 FanDuel points per minute this season against the Celtics, so Babbitt is due for some regression against a better defense, especially playing on no rest following a 41-minute performance.
