3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 10/30/17

Dejounte Murray is in a major slump and likely isn't a good fantasy candidate this evening. Who else should you consider fading on tonight's slate?

In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.

You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to, or even fade altogether?

Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it only takes one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference from winning or losing your contests.

D.J. Augustin, PG, Orlando Magic

FanDuel Price: $5,800

D.J. Augustin is having a strong start to the season since Elfrid Payton went down, but fantasy-wise he put up a dud on Sunday night, with 0 points and just 7.5 FanDuel points.

Now on a back-to-back, he and the Orlando Magic have to travel down to play the New Orleans Pelicans, who have been surprisingly good against opposing point guards this season.

Jrue Holiday and the Pelicans are holding opposing point guards to just 0.83 FanDuel points per minute, and right now our models are not very high on Augustin, projecting him for just 19.3 FanDuel points.

Dejounte Murray, PG, San Antonio Spurs

FanDuel Price: $5,300

Dejounte Murray was the hottest thing going among point guards in DFS this time last week, but after his last three games, he's looking more like a fade than a guy to target.

Murray has posted an average of just 13.5 FanDuel points per game over his last three games, and he is just 4-for-23 shooting during that stretch.

The San Antonio Spurs are coming off a tough loss on Sunday afternoon, and they have to play the Boston Celtics on Monday night. Boston is coming in rested and they currently rank second in the league in defensive rating, allowing just 97.3 points per 100 possessions.

Boston has also been good against opposing point guards, allowing them just 0.73 FanDuel points per minute. With Murray struggling and a lot of point guards to chose from on the Monday slate, you can find better value than the Spurs' young floor general.

Nerlens Noel, C, Dallas Mavericks

FanDuel Price: $4,700

Nerlens Noel also started hot this season season, but foul trouble and inconsistency have derailed his fantasy upside over the Dallas Mavericks' last five games.

Noel has a tough task tonight against the Utah Jazz and Rudy Gobert. The Jazz are holding opposing centers to just 0.89 FanDuel points per minute according to our Matchup DvP Chart. In a game with 190 total from Vegas, and a 92.5 implied total for the Mavs in our Matchup Heat Map, it's best to avoid Noel and most of the Mavs tonight.
