The Kawhi-less Spurs

It may not be what we’re used to hearing, but there’s something weird going on in San Antonio and Kawhi Leonard’s name is in the middle of it.

On the bummer side of things, head coach Gregg Popovich told reporters on Wednesday that he’d be surprised if Leonard returned from injury this season. And on the odd side of things, a report by Adrian Wojnarowski mentioned that Leonard has been medically cleared to play, but has elected not to return to the active roster.

It’s an unfortunate situation all the way around. Something is definitely off and hopefully things get back on track sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, there may be a couple of Spurs to smile about when crafting your daily lineups.

For the bargain shoppers: Danny Green has been offering up decent value at a reasonable price. He’s achieved at least five-times value in five of his last 10 games, including a couple of breakout performances that led to seven- and nine-times value. For a salary cost that stays below the $5,000 mark, Green provides good upside.

And for the spenders: LaMarcus Aldridge has been a top-12 big man (comprised of forwards and centers) over the past couple weeks at 42.8 FanDuel points per game. While he may not offer the fire power of big men like Anthony Davis and Nikola Jokic, LMA totes plenty of efficient production for a guy who doesn’t push into the five-figure salary range.
