Enter the Satoransky

The league has been hit with entirely too many injuries as of late -- some of them gruesome, all of them frustrating. And while the reminder of such misfortune and bad luck isn’t exactly fun, it’s imperative when it comes to crafting lineups and seizing opportunity.

In Washington, John Wall’s knee procedure is set to keep him out for the next 6-8 weeks, meaning an already-thin squad will be forced to draw from other players.

Tomas Satoransky is our next man up.

Before receiving the start Tuesday night against the Thunder, Satoransky was one of the lone bright spots of the Wizards' bench this season (Kelly Oubre, of course, and Mike Scott also receiving honors). He’s a heady player with length and underrated defense to boot.

Despite having an off night shooting the ball earlier this week, Sato finished with 5 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals, and a block in 30 minutes against OKC, resulting in 27 FanDuel points and six-times value. Then, on Thursday against the Raptors, Sato went for 10 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals to return just shy of five-times value on a $4,900 salary.

Where Sato lacks in raw offensive production, he makes up for in nearly every other category. His length helps on the glass, his smarts help on defense, he’s a savvy passer, and perhaps most importantly, head coach Scott Brooks seems to trust him.

No one expects for Satoransky to pick up where Wall left off, but he’s a nice and affordable option who isn’t necessarily dependent on hot scoring.
