Drew Butera traded to Rockies from Royals

The Colorado Rockies acquired catcher Drew Butera from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for left-handed pitcher Jerry Vasto.

What It Means:

Butera adds another backup catcher to Colorado's roster. The 35-year-old impending free agent is sturdy behind the plate but owns a .201 career batting average. The Royals recalled Cam Gallagher from Triple-A Omaha to backup Salvador Perez. Vasto, 26, made just one poor outing for the Rockies this season in what was his major league debut.

Butera was averaging 5.6 FanDuel points in 51 games for the Royals, slashing a miserable .188/.259/.289 with 2 home runs and 18 RBI across 166 plate appearances.
