Nationals' Gio Gonzalez, Matt Wieters, Ryan Zimmerman clear waivers
Washington Nationals pitcher Gio Gonzalez, catcher Matt Wieters, and first baseman Ryan Zimmerman all passed through revocable trade waivers unclaimed, Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post reports.
The news means that all three players can now be traded before August 31. Gonzalez and Wieters will be free agents this winter, while Zimmerman is under contract through 2019 with a club option for 2020.
Gonzalez is averaging 25.3 FanDuel points per game and we project him to post a 4.96 ERA over his remaining 36 1/3 innings. Zimmerman is posting 10.2 FanDuel points per contest and is projected to hit .267 with four home runs in 67 plate appearances over the rest of the year. Wieters is averaging 7.0 FanDuel points per game and is projected to hit .235 in 57 plate appearances.
