Buster Posey (hip) on Giants' bench in Thursday's series finale
San Francisco Giants catcher/first baseman Buster Posey (hip) is out of Thursday's starting lineup versus the New York Mets.
Posey will reportedly need hip surgery to repair his labrum and clean out bone spurs, but it's not clear when he will undergo the procedure as the Giants cling onto slim playoff hopes. Nick Hundley will catch San Francisco southpaw Madison Bumgarner on Thursday afternoon.
Posey is averaging 8.6 FanDuel points in 104 games this season, while slashing .284/.357/.382 with 5 home runs, 40 RBI, 3 steals, and 46 runs scored across 443 plate appearances.
