Mets place Brandon Nimmo (finger) on DL
The New York Mets placed outfielder Brandon Nimmo on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to August 17, with a bruised left index finger.
Nimmo was hit by a pitch on his left hand on Thursday and hasn't played since. He escaped a more serious injury when x-rays determined the finger was just bruised but will still sit out at least the next six days. Dominic Smith will fill his roster spot until Nimmo is ready to return.
Nimmo is slashing .265/.387/.503 with a .386 wOBA and 15 homers over 413 plate appearances this season.
