Rays' Daniel Robertson (thumb) likely out for remainder of 2018 season
Per MLB.com's Bill Chastain, Tampa Bay Rays infielder Daniel Robertson will require thumb surgery, which could keep him out the rest of the season.
After recovering from an ankle injury, the 24-year-old returned for three games before being placed on the disabled list. It's been called a left thumb sprain, which he suffered sliding headfirst into second base on Friday. Brandon Lowe was promoted from Triple-A, but Joey Wendle should see the majority of starts at second base.
In a breakout year, Robertson has hit .262 with 9 home runs, 34 RBI and a .797 OPS.
