Cardinals' Carlos Martinez suffers shoulder strain in return
St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Carlos Martinez has been diagnosed with a mild right shoulder strain after making an early exit from Monday's start against the Colorado Rockies, an MRI revealed.
Martinez had just returned from the disabled list for a strained right oblique and it looks like he will head right back for what will be his second shoulder-related DL stint and third overall.
Martinez allowed 2 runs on 4 hits with 9 strikeouts and 1 walk in 4 2/3 innings on Monday before leaving. He's 6-6 (18 starts) and averaging 30.6 FanDuel points across 100 1/3 innings overall this season.
