Dodgers' Chase Utley not in the lineup on Friday night
Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Chase Utley is not in the lineup on Friday night after announcing his retirement from baseball at the end of the season.
Utley got the start at second on Thursday but will be replaced by Enrique Hernandez on Friday. The big news, however, is the veteran's infielder deciding to hang 'em up at the end of the season. Utley has played 16 seasons in the big leagues, 12-plus with the Philadelphia Phillies and the last three-plus seasons with the Dodgers.
Utley has batted .231 with 1 homer in 147 plate appearances this season.
