Jed Lowrie getting a breather for Oakland on Thursday
Oakland Athletics second baseman Jed Lowrie is absent from Thursday's lineup against the Houston Astros.
Lowrie went 2-for-3 with 2 walks and a run scored in Wednesday's win over the Astros, raising his batting average to .290 for the season. The 34-year-old veteran will be replaced at second base by Chad Pinder on Thursday afternoon as he takes his first breather in three weeks.
