Giants' Johnny Cueto (elbow) shows out in rehab start
San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Johnny Cueto (elbow) struck out four and allowed one hit in 3 2/3 shutout innings in his first rehab start with Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday.
Cueto threw 33 of 48 pitches for strikes, cruising through his first game action in nearly two months. The hit he allowed was merely a single. The veteran right-hander is expected to make two more rehab starts before rejoining the Giants' rotation.
Our models project Cueto to throw 44 2/3 more innings this year, earning a 3.03 ERA, 22.1 percent strikeout rate, and 7.2 percent walk rate. We project him for a 3-2 record the rest of the way.
