Cincinnati Reds third base prospect Nick Senzel will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a torn tendon in his right index finger.
Senzel suffered the injury last night, and it's obviously bad news for the Reds' top prospect. The 22-year-old was on the verge of cracking the bigs after having a lot of success at the minor league level. He should be recovered in time for fall or winter ball. It would be shocking not to see Senzel in a Reds uniform at some point next season.
In 44 games at Triple-A Louisville, Senzel was hitting .310 with 6 home runs, 25 RBI and 8 stolen bases.
