Michael Wacha lands on Cardinals' disabled list with left oblique strain

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Michael Wacha has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with a left oblique strain.

What It Means:

Wacha was diagnosed with a strained left oblique after making an early exit from Wednesday's start against the Philadelphia Phillies. The 26-year-old right-hander apparently had trouble breathing, so this could be a lengthy absence. The Cardinals recalled right-hander John Gant from Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding roster move but it remains to be seen who will take Wacha's spot in the rotation.

Wacha is averaging 30.2 FanDuel points in 15 starts this season while going 8-2 with a 3.20 ERA and 1.23 WHIP across 84 1/3 innings. He's also picked up 71 strikeouts and 36 walks.
