A's sit Matt Chapman (hand) for Friday's contest
Oakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman (hand) is not in the starting lineup on Friday.
Chapman suffered a contusion on his right hand on Thursday, not severe enough to send him immediately to the disabled list but enough for an MRI and his first absence of the season. The A's haven't announced the extent of the injury, however. Chad Pinder is starting in his place.
Our models project Chapman to bat .244 with 9 home runs, 22 runs, and 25 RBI in 189 more plate appearances this season, assuming full health.
