Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Trevor Cahill has been placed on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to June 11, with a strained right Achilles.
Cahill missed over a week in May with a right elbow impingement but this injury will likely keep the 30-year-old right-hander on the shelf a bit longer. In corresponding roster moves, the Athletics also optioned southpaw Danny Coulombe to Triple-A Nashville and called up a pair of righties in Chris Bassitt and Carlos Ramirez.
Cahill is averaging 33.5 FanDuel points in eight starts this season while recording a 2.77 ERA and 0.99 WHIP with 47 strikeouts and 11 walks across 48 2/3 innings.
