Red Sox's Carson Smith to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery
Boston Red Sox reliever Carson Smith is scheduled to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery on Wednesday.
Smith has been limited to just 23 2/3 total innings since the Red Sox acquired the 28-year-old right-hander from the Seattle Mariners in December of 2015.
Smith's last healthy season in the bigs was with the Seattle Mariners in 2015. He posted 2.31 ERA with 92 strikeouts and 22 walks across 70 innings while recording 13 saves in 18 opportunities.
