Robinson Cano will not be Mariners' everyday second baseman when his suspension ends
Seattle Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano will not resume his everyday second base duties when he returns from suspension in August.
This largely has to do with Cano's ineligibility for the playoffs. With the Mariners playing well right now, General Manager Jerry Dipoto wants to keep some consistency on the field and in the lineup. This means that Dee Gordon would continue to see regular playing time at second base, while Cano's playing time would be more intermittent.
We project Cano to hit .276 with 3 home runs, 12 runs, and 13 RBI after he returns from suspension.
