Chris Archer (abdomen) shut down by Rays following setback
Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Chris Archer (abdominal) has been shut down following a setback with his left abdominal strain.
Archer threw a 20-pitch bullpen session on Saturday but is still experiencing soreness. He was scheduled to pitch a simulated game on Monday but those plans have been canceled. The club will re-examine their ace later in the week.
Archer owns a 3-4 record, 4.24 ERA, and 1.34 WHIP with 76 strikeouts in 76 1/3 innings pitched this season.
