Cleveland calls up prospect Francisco Mejia on Monday
The Cleveland Indians have recalled top catching prospect Francisco Mejia from Triple-A on Monday.
What It Means:
Mejia will provide depth behind the plate and at DH with Roberto Perez and Edwin Encarnacion banged up. The top prospect's stay in the big leagues may not be long unless the injuries to Perez or Encarnacion linger.
Mejia batted .154 in 14 big league plate appearances last season and was hitting only .214 with 4 homers in 214 plate appearances in Triple-A this year.
