The New York Yankees have placed starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka (hamstrings) on the 10-day DL on Saturday.
Tanaka strained both of his hamstrings while running the bases in Friday night's win over crosstown rivals, the New York Mets. No word on how long they expect the right-hander to out, but strains typically take a couple of weeks, depending on the severity. Ronald Torreyes was called up from Triple-A in a corresponding move.
Tanaka owns a 4.58 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 73 strikeouts in 72 2/3 innings pitched this season.
