Angels place Shohei Ohtani (UCL Sprain) on the 10-day DL
Los Angeles Angels pitcher/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani (elbow, blister) has been placed on the 10-day DL with a Grade 2 UCL sprain. He is out indefinitely.
Ohtani was reportedly dealing with a partial tear in his UCL all season but it appears to have gotten worse. The pitcher underwent a PRP and Stem Cell injection and will be re-evaluated in three weeks. The team hopes the rest and injections solve the problem but Tommy John surgery remains a real possibility.
Ohtani was batting .289 with 6 homers in 129 plate appearances while also posting a 3.10 ERA and 1.13 WHIP with 61 strikeouts in 49 1/3 innings pitched this season.
