Yankees' Jordan Montgomery undergoes Tommy John surgery

New York Yankees pitcher Jordan Montgomery underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery on Thursday.

What It Means:

Montgomery only made six starts before going down with an elbow injury at the beginning of May, and ultimately Tommy John surgery became the best course of action. He will miss the rest of the season, and will likely be out for much of 2019 as well.

Montgomery logged 27 1/3 innings this season, and will finish with a 3.62 ERA and 23 strikeouts.
