Kansas City Royals catcher Drew Butera is not starting on Thursday against the Texas Rangers.
Salvador Perez is starting at catcher tonight, so Butera will return to the bench after getting a start on Wednesday. Perez is batting cleanup against Texas starter Austin Bibens-Dirkx.
Butera is slashing .176/.278/.235 over 79 plate appearances this season.
