Rays' Jacob Faria placed on 10-day disabled list with oblique strain
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Jacob Faria was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a left oblique strain.
Faria suffered the injury in the third inning Tuesday's start against the Boston Red Sox and manager Kevin Cash conceded that the 24-year-old right-hander will likely be sidelined a month, if not more. The Rays called up Vidal Nuño from Triple-A Durham in a corresponding roster move.
Faria is 3-3 and averaging 19.3 FanDuel points in 10 starts this season while spinning a 5.48 ERA and 1.32 WHIP with 37 strikeouts and 22 walks across 47 2/3 innings.
