The Baltimore Orioles say the plan is for pitcher Zach Britton (Achilles) to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk on May 30.
Britton has been throwing off a mound for about a month now, so it's good news that he has a rehab date set. Coming off surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles, Britton will need plenty of rehab appearances in the minors before being activated from the disabled list. It's looking like mid-June is a realistic timeline for Britton to return to action.
Once he returns, our models project Britton for a 4.14 ERA and 1.41 WHIP, to go with 37 strikeouts over 34.8 innings remaining this season.
