White Sox sign Michael Saunders to minor league deal
The Chicago White Sox have signed free-agent outfielder Michael Saunders to a minor league deal and have assigned him to their Triple-A affiliate, the Charlotte Knights.
Saunders spent spring training with the Royals but was released after failing to make the initial 25-man roster. The veteran outfielder will serve as organizational depth for Chicago but could see some time in the big leagues this year after getting back into playing shape with the Knights.
In 234 plate appearances with the Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies in 2017, Saunders batted just .202 with 6 homers and a .600 OPS.
