The Kansas City Royals have purchased the contract of infielder Raul Mondesi from Double-A Northwest Arkansas.
This is the 20-year-old Mondesi, not his father. To make room for him, the Royals will not carry the speedy Terrance Gore.
Mondesi stole 19 bases over 338 plate appearances on the year to go with his .243/.279/.372 slash. Clearly, he's not coming up for his bat. Mondesi could become the first person to make his big-league debut in the World Series, but his value is more in the future than the present.
