Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Francisco Cervelli (forearm) is starting on Thursday against the San Diego Padres.
Cervelli sat out Wednesday's series finale win over the Chicago White Sox after being lifted from Tuesday's contest when he was plunked by a pitch in the forearm. He's better now and will replace Elias Diaz behind the plate while batting third versus Padres left-hander Eric Lauer in Thursday's series opener.
