San Diego Padres outfielder Hunter Renfroe is set to begin his rehab assignment on Thursday at Triple-A El Paso.
Renfroe has been out since mid-April while dealing with elbow inflammation. He has played in a few extended spring training games, and he's progressing toward a return. He should be back with San Diego before the end of May. Until then, Matt Szczur, Franchy Cordero and Cory Spangenberg will see more starts in the outfield.
On the year, Renfroe is batting .200 with 2 home runs and 8 RBI in 17 games.
