Nationals' Matt Wieters undergoes hamstring surgery
Washington Nationals catcher Matt Wieters underwent surgery on his left hamstring on Wednesday.
This was unexpected, as Wieters landed on the disabled list a week ago for a hamstring strain but there hadn't been any word of surgery. As of now, it's not clear how long the 31-year-old backstop will be out. Pedro Severino has been handling things behind the plate for Washington.
Wieters is averaging 6.6 FanDuel points in 23 games this season while slashing .231/.342/.385 with 3 home runs and 7 RBI across 76 plate appearances.
