Edwin Encarnacion (back, neck) scratched from Indians' lineup, Erik Gonzalez draws another start
Cleveland Indians designated hitter/first baseman Edwin Encarnacion was scratched from Wednesday's lineup against the Detroit Tigers due to back spasms.
This makes two straight absences for Encarnacion, who was originally penciled in for the start in Wednesday's series finale. The Indians are off on Thursday, so hopefully three days off will allow him to return on Friday against the Houston Astros. Jose Ramirez will play DH while Erik Gonzalez draws another start and covers the hot corner for Cleveland while batting seventh.
Encarnacion is averaging 9.1 FanDuel points per game this season while slashing .205/.280/.411 with 9 home runs and 22 RBI through 162 plate appearances.
