Cardinals place Adam Wainwright (elbow) on the 10-day disabled list

The St. Louis Cardinals have place starting pitcher Adam Wainwright (elbow) on the 10-day disabled list.

What It Means:

The move is retroactive to May 14. Wainwright made it only 2 1/3 innings in his return from the DL on Sunday, and his elbow was clearly not healthy. He spent three weeks on the DL last time, and this could be an even longer absence for the 36-year-old. The team has called up pitcher Jack Flaherty from Triple-A to replace Wainwright in the rotation.

Wainwright opened 2018 with a 4.00 ERA, 1.83 WHIP, 17.0% strikeout rate and 15.9% walk rate. He is averaging 21.3 FanDuel points per game.
