Colorado Rockies second baseman D.J. LeMahieu (thumb) was placed on the team's 10-day DL on Monday.
LeMahieu sprained his left thumb in Sunday's game, but the extent of the injury is not yet known. If he needs surgery, he could be out six-to-eight weeks. If it is just a sprain, LeMahieu could be back after a minimum stay on the DL. Expect more details in the coming days. Daniel Castro started at second on Monday and will likely see extra at-bats with Lemahieu out of action.
LeMahieu has batted .279 with 5 homers and 20 runs scored in 143 plate appearances so far this season.
