Adam Wainwright (elbow) could be headed back to Cardinals' disabled list
St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright could be headed back to the disabled list after leaving Sunday's start in the third inning due to renewed pain in his elbow.
Wainwright was making his return from the DL on Sunday, and it didn't last long. He lasted only 2.1 innings while giving up a pair of runs on 3 hits and walking 6 batters before being pulled. Wainwright said that his velocity was down and he didn't have a good feel for his pitches. The once dominant right-hander has very little, if any fantasy value left.
Before going down again on Sunday, our models were projecting Wainwright for a 5.18 ERA and 1.53 WHIP with 63 strikeouts over 80.0 innings remaining this season.
