Giants' Hunter Pence shut down from rehab assignment with recurring thumb soreness
San Francisco Giants outfielder Hunter Pence has been shut down from his rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento due to recurring soreness in his right thumb.
Pence was on track for a return soon, but that is likely no longer the case after his setback. Until Pence returns, Gregor Blanco should continue playing mostly in left field, while Austin Jackson and Gorkys Hernandez will see more time in the outfield as well.
Once he is able to return, our models project Pence for a .248 batting average with 3 home runs, 13 runs scored, and 14 RBI over 133 plate appearances remaining this season.
