Clay Buchholz released by Royals
The Kansas City Royals released Clay Buchholz.
Buchholz has looked solid in the minors and was expected by some to be called up to the big leagues soon, but that apparently won't be the case. The veteran right-hander lasted just 7 2/3 innings last season with the Philadelphia Phillies before injuring his shoulder and undergoing surgery in April of 2017.
Buchholz made three starts and allowed 2 runs on 10 hits with 9 strikeouts and 7 walks across 16 innings between Double-A and Triple-A ball for the Royals this season.
