Gabe Kapler a "serious front runner" for Dodgers' managerial job
Former outfielder Gabe Kapler is "a serious frontrunner" to fill the Los Angeles Dodgers' managerial void, according to Buster Olney of ESPN.
The Dodgers and Don Mattingly mutually agreed to part ways earlier Thursday. Kapler last played back in 2010 with the Tampa Bay Rays.
Whoever becomes the new Dodgers' manager will inherit quite the roster. They finished third in wRC+ and first in xFIP on the year, but fell in the National League Division Series against the Chicago Cubs. This led the Dodgers to a second-place finish in numberFire's power rankings, so even if they lose Zack Greinke to free agency, the team should be expected to succeed in 2015-16.
