St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Jack Flaherty will make a road start against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday, manager Mike Matheny confirmed.
Adam Wainwright is back on the disabled list with an elbow issue, so Flaherty will fill in for his second big league start of the year. The 22-year-old right-hander struck out 9 batters and allowed just 1 run on 5 hits over five innings against the Milwaukee Brewers on April 3 before being optioned to Triple-A Memphis the following day.
Flaherty scored 39.0 FanDuel points in his lone appearance for the Cardinals. He owns a 2.25 ERA and 0.75 WHIP with 22 punchouts and 3 walks across 20 innings (three starts) for the Memphis Redbirds this season.
