Former Toronto Blue Jays third baseman/outfielder Jose Bautista will be the Atlanta Braves' starting third baseman when he joins the team following extended spring training.
Journeyman Ryan Flaherty has been manning the hot corner to start the season and is leading the league with a .366 batting average, but when Bautista joins the team this week, he will assume the starting role, per manage Brian Snitker. The 37-year-old Bautista was signed to a minor league deal last week.
Bautista is coming off one of his worst hitting seasons as he batted a career-low .203 with 23 homers and 170 strikeouts in 686 plate appearances with Toronto.
