Rays' Kevin Kiermaier (thumb) exits Sunday's game, to get MRI Monday
Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier left Sunday's game early and will undergo an MRI on Monday, reports Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.
During the first inning of Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies, Kiermaier appeared to jam his thumb while sliding head first into second base. He remained in the game momentarily, but was removed prior to the top of the second. Manager Kevin Cash suggested that Kiermaier is heading for the disabled list, which would mean more playing time for rookie Johnny Field.
Kiermaier finished the day 1-for-1 with a run scored and 6.2 FanDuel points. He's hitting just .163 on the early season.
