Mets call up Jose Lobaton from Triple-A for Friday's game
The New York Mets have called up catcher Jose Lobaton from Triple-A to start on Friday against the Milwaukee Brewers.
With Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) scheduled for Tommy John surgery, and Kevin Plawecki (hand) set to miss 3-4 weeks, the Mets will turn to Jose Lobaton to start Friday's game. Lobaton is batting eighth against right-hander Zach Davies. For now, Lobaton and Tomas Nido are expected to fill in behind the plate, but it wouldn't be surprising if the Mets try to make a trade.
Lobaton has a .218/.295/.352 batting line over his career.
