Pirates' Joe Musgrove (shoulder) not throwing off mound
Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Joe Musgrove (shoulder) is not close to throwing off a mound, team director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk indicated Thursday.
"We’ve only had him play catch on flat ground twice from 75 feet," Tomczyk explained. "I think that still needs to manifest itself. Maybe by the end of this road trip we’ll have a better idea." Musgrove was placed on the 10-day disabled list April 2, retroactive to March 30, for a strained right shoulder that has bothered the 25-year-old right-hander for months.
Prior to this report, numberFire's models projected Musgrove to record a 4.47 ERA and 1.29 WHIP while striking out 101 batters over 121 1/3 innings in 2018.
