Orioles' Alex Cobb throws five-inning simulated game
Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Alex Cobb threw in a simulated game at the club's spring training complex in Sarasota, Florida on Wednesday.
Cobb yielded 1 run on 3 hits with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts over 5 innings. The 30-year-old right-hander may be ready to join the Orioles' rotation by the beginning of next week. The former Tampa Bay Ray signed a 4-year, $57 million contract with Baltimore less than two weeks before the season started.
Cobb went 12-10 in 29 starts with a 3.66 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and 17.3 strikeout percentage across 179 1/3 innings for Tampa Bay in 2017.
