Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo has selected Brad Boxberger as his closer.
Boxberger was acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays last November. He recorded a 3.38 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 33.1 strikeout percentage across 29 1/3 innings after missing the first three months of the year with forearm and lat issues. Archie Bradley will remain in a set-up role out of the Angels' bullpen.
Prior to this announcement, numberFire's models projected Boxberger to record a 3.37 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and 25.2 strikeout percentage with 8 saves across 56 innings this season.
