Michael Conforto not expected to make Mets' opening roster
New York Mets outfielder Michael Conforto (shoulder) is "unlikely" to make the opening roster, general manager Sandy Alderson told reporters.
Conforto has progressed through rehab faster than anticipated after undergoing shoulder surgery last August but the Mets don't want to rush things. The 25-year-old outfielder should be able to make his season debut by the first or second week of April. He's playing designated hitter in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
numberFire projects Conforto to hit .252 with 21 home runs, 60 RBIs, and 58 runs scored in 437 plate appearances this season.
