Diamondbacks' Steven Souza diagnosed with right pectoral strain
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Steven Souza has been diagnosed with a right pectoral strain.
What It Means:
Souza suffered the injury while diving for a catch during Wednesday's Cactus League game against the San Francisco Giants. Per Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo, the 28-year-old outfielder will likely open the season on the disabled list and is expected to miss a "couple of weeks." Jarrod Dyson and Yasmany Tomas will likely benefit while Souza is sidelined.
numberFire's initial projections for Souza in 2018 include a .237 batting average, 23 home runs, 67 RBI, 72 runs scored, and 18 steals in 577 plate appearances.
