Cleveland Indians pitcher Danny Salazar (shoulder) will throw off a mound on Thursday for the first time this spring.
Salazar is scheduled to throw 20 pitches as he recovers from a rotator cuff injury. He continues to progress, but will begin the season on the disabled list. Josh Tomlin is taking his rotation spot in the meantime. Salazar is a tantalizing pitching talent, but has struggled to stay healthy.
In 2017, Salazar posted a 4.28 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 145 strikeouts over 103 innings, including 19 starts.
